De Damp home with its new zealand house design build provides rather incredible design to stay in. Although two of four floorings are “buried” below the very beginning, they still supply incredible sea views, many thanks to the sloping surface on which the house is built. Artistically called “under water atrium” (due to the fact that they are literally built beneath the swimming pool), those two floorings housed game room, health club and room.
Floors above the ground are imagined to have distinct identities. “The Living room, positioned on the mountain side of the courtyard yard, offers cocooned living while the double volume Living and Eating area on the sea side is much more dramatic, with its rippling concrete function fire place wall and powerful views.
Although new zealand house design build with open layout similar to this one don’t have clear border between exterior and interior space, interiors of De Damp residence are something to appreciate and gain from. Raw concrete and rock walls form the space while lumber and glass created unique ambience, met with magnificent sea views. The biggest star of this home is definitely incredible high ceiling living-room. With the swimming pool terrace to the west and main courtyard yard to the east, it seem to be much more roofed exterior room than shut area inside the house we are used to see. The only “wall” between those rooms are tall sliding glass doors which could be opened entirely.
